This is where you will eventually find the link to the online Virtual Burns Supper. It will be available on or around January 25th and will be accessible in this site for a couple weeks thereafter. An email will announce its arrival in late January or you can check for it on your own. In the meantime please check out our other offerings throughout this website.

We are happy to announce that the St. Andrew’s Society of Pittsburgh will produce a Virtual Robert Burns Supper to be available online by the time of Burns Night, January 25, 2021. Plans are coming together for the next best thing to being together in person. Our format will be similar to last month’s Virtual Ceilidh; a pre-recorded program observing all the ancient and honored traditions that have been enjoyed worldwide for over two centuries. In addition to our local talent, we are working on a couple segments with an international touch as well. You will be able to access the Virtual Burns Supper online at a convenient time of your choosing, available over a roughly two-week period during “Burns Season” (late January into early February). We’ll bring you more details on that as the time approaches. If you want to prepare your own Scottish food for this virtual event – and who doesn’t!? – you’ll need to act fairly soon.

We’ll deliver your entertainment but you must provide your own food … and we can help with that too.

Do you have a favorite Scottish recipe? We may have to shelter in place but we can all celebrate Burns Night in our own style in the safety of our own homes. If you have a Scottish recipe (traditional or not) that you think others might enjoy making for Burns Night, we want it! Please send your recipes and ideas by email to Susan Kruman at by January 8, 2021 and we’ll post it on our website for others to consider using. That will give enough lead time for everyone to order ahead and/or pick up the groceries.

If you don’t want to cook using tried and true Scottish recipes from our members, you can order from commercial vendors. Susan Kruman has curated a number of online options for you to consider – but you must order soon to receive your products in time for Burns Season. The Scottish Grocer – This site has lots of groceries. Haggis and stews, smoked fish, pies, marmalade, oatmeal cakes, and shortbread to name a few. It also has recipes and news. Ackroyd’s Scottish Bakery – This Michigan Scottish emporium has everything you could possibly want for Burns Night. You can call: (313) 532-1181 or order online. Everything is shipped frozen in recyclable packaging and arrives in 2 days. They have haggis in a natural casing, black pudding, bangers and pasties, meat pies, scones and breads. Give them two weeks ahead to order. Stewarts Scottish Market in Kearny, NJ has lots of traditional products to provide an excellent Burns Night. Pastries and meats, puddings and scones are all available here. Pittsburgh’s Piper’s Pub will be having a special Burn’s Dinner to order out. They usually do a haggis meal but call them after January 1, 2021 to find out what their special meal will be: (412) 381-3977 Jamison Farm will provide an assortment of all natural lamb products for your homemade Burns dinner. They have recipes for all sorts of traditional lamb dishes. This local farm has an excellent reputation nation-wide.

Because of our special connection with The Scottish Gourmet we have obtained a discount for members who would like to order their “Burns Supper Box 2021”, a meal for four. Normally it would cost $40 for the dinner but for our members the cost will be $35. To view this product, go to: and scroll down to the bottom of their page to the “Category Links”. Look for “Burns Night Dinner” and click on the link. You will see the menu and description of the dinner there titled “Burns Supper Box 2021”. If this is something you would like, do NOT order directly from the Scottish Gourmet website, but send a check for $35 and your name and address to: Paul Thompson, 127 Surrey Dr, Delmont, PA, 15626. We will send in the order for all of our interested members and the Burns Supper Box 2021 will be sent to your address arriving in time for Burns Night. In order to meet the time deadline of the vendor, your check and order must be received by Paul by January 10. Let the Scottish Gourmet do your Burns Night dinner!

Do you know or have you tried any other Scottish vendors that make and deliver Scottish food and treats? We want to know who that is! A list of Scottish vendors will be placed on our website for our members so you can enjoy a Scottish meal to celebrate Robert Burns.

To bring in a little of that personal connection with friends that we’re craving, please send in some of your favorite photos from past Burns Suppers. We’d like to catch a glimpse of those good friends we look forward to seeing again soon. We’ll get many of those up on the website too. Send your photos to Dale McLeod at
